Something powerful is happening in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
At Discussing Mental Health, we’ve launched a project that holds space for men living with addiction and low to moderate mental health challenges, a space where they can speak openly, be seen, and begin to heal.
April 2025 marked a milestone
We filmed the first part of our awareness campaign. It was raw, real, and deeply human. Behind every frame was courage, men showing up, telling their stories, and letting themselves be heard, often for the first time.
But this project isn’t just about film. It’s about what happens when people come together to make something meaningful, when compassion becomes action.
The Power of Community
None of this would have been possible without an incredible group of people who believed in what we’re building.
Daniel Hutchinson and his amazing film crew captured the essence of our message with such care, creativity, and professionalism. Every shot felt alive with purpose.
Ravinder Ubhi, owner of The Goat King restaurant, opened his beautiful space to us, creating a warm, welcoming environment for conversation and connection.
Adam Cartwright, District Engagement Manager at Shaw Trust, helped bring people together from day one. His belief in the vision made this collaboration possible.
And of course, the biggest thanks goes to our courageous male volunteers, the heart of this project. Their honesty, vulnerability, and willingness to show up are what this movement is truly about.
We’re Just Getting Started
This project was born from one simple belief: that no one should have to struggle in silence.
We’ve seen how powerful it can be when men are given permission to speak, to feel, and to connect.
But to keep growing this work, to reach more men, build more spaces, and expand our community, we need your help.
If you believe in second chances, in the power of honesty, and in community healing, we invite you to stand with us.
Let’s keep raising awareness.
Let’s keep making space.
Let’s keep talking.
Get involved, donate, collaborate, or share.
Together, we can break the silence and build something that lasts.
